What it is

I built Willow to bring AI image tools onto a canvas. Start with a prompt, generate an image, and then work with it. Change part of it. Extend the edges. Draw. Add layers. Keep going until it's what you want.

It's built around product photos, with a WebGL canvas underneath. You can move between generating an image and editing it without leaving the tool.

What I learned

A canvas needs to keep up with your hand. An AI model takes seconds to give you an image. Those are very different speeds. Most of the interesting engineering was making them feel like one tool.
